30 Days of Character Development: Day 30

30.) And finally: Write a letter to your character, from yourself. 

Dear Damian, 

I'm sorry for making you such an outsider, but you're finally coming out of your shell now and that is good. It's all because of Josh, I know, but you two are so very good for each other in ways you do not yet even know. 

Dear Josh, 

I'm sorry for your crappy childhood. I know you'd much rather have lived a normal childhood, but not everyone has that chance. I know you've suffered a lot, but I also know you're feeling a lot better now after you met Damian. I'm happy for you both and wish you all the luck. 

Dear Silver, 

You've been dealt a lot of crap too, but I can't really feel sorry for it. If you hadn't been through what you went through you never would've met Kian and that would've been a shame. I know you feel so too, so don't dwell on the past anymore and focus on your present. Because it's wonderful. 

Dear Kian, 

You had a crappy childhood, but that's what life deals out sometimes. If you had had a normal childhood, you wouldn't be the person that you are today; which is a loveable, kind, ever thoughtful sweetheart. I wouldn't want you any other way! 

I wish you all a happy ever after!

30 Days of Character Development: Day 29

29.) How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne? 

Damian: he doesn't usually wear cologne, but as he showers every day he usually smell like whatever soap he's used.

Josh: he doesn't usually wear any cologne either. Just like Damian, he smells like whatever soap he's just used.

Silver: he wears cologne, but the smell can vary for each time he has to buy a new one.

Kian: he's a fervent user of soaps, but the smell vary for every time he buys a new bottle. So he smells like whatever soap he's just used in the shower. If, for some reason, he's not able to shower in the mornings, he uses either cologne or perfumes.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 28

28.) If your character’s life was a genre, what would it be? 

Damian: slice of life.

Josh: survival horror and memoir.

Silver: drama and romance.

Kian: romance.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 27

27.) Do your charcter have any pets? Do your character want any pets? What kind of pets do they like? 

Damian: he has never really cared for pets, but if he were to have one he'd like a cat. They are independent and doesn't rely on humans the way a dog does. 

Josh: he has never had any pets, but during his childhood he always dreamt of having a dog that could protect him whenever Andrew was around. If he were to have pets, he'd want a dog. 

Silver: he has never had any pets, his parents would never allow an animal inside their house. He's never really wanted one either, but he suppose that he's more of a cat person. 

Kian: he has never had any pets, but he grew up with a lot of insects and rodents infesting his mother's house. He can't stand the sight of insects, so spiders or mice or rats are completely out of the question. A cat would be nice though, if he were to have an animal, because if rodents were to infect the house, the cat would catch them.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 26

26.) Second day of favorites! Favorite comfort food, favorite vice, favorite outfit, favorite hot drink, favorite time of year, and favorite holiday. 

Damian: as he is bulimic his comfort food consists of varied stuff such as ice-cream, cookies, cakes; whatever he can get his hands on really. As he's gotten better from his bulimia, he tries to eat healthy, but sometimes he can have small draw-backs.  He likes to wear regular jeans and a not-too-tight shirt or a t-shirt. He likes hot chocolate, but doesn't drink it often, only when Josh makes it for them. He likes the summer and the summer holiday, simply because it's a holiday where noone expect presents or big family dinners. 

Josh: his comfort food is chips. When he's feeling down, he snuggles on the couch with a good movie and a bag of chips. As Damian, he likes regular jeans, and a long-sleeved shirt to cover up his scars. His favorite hot drink is hot chocolate. He likes the winter, but has never liked holidays. This is becuase of the abuse he suffered; whenever there was a holiday, it was easier for Andrew to get a hold off him.

Silver: his comfort food is ice-cream. He likes jeans and tight t-shirts, tank-tops or sweaters. After getting together with Kian, he's grown to like tea. He likes summer best of all the seasons. He doesn't really have any favorite holiday, because spending extra time with his parents was never high on his list. He is rather fond of the summer holiday though. 

Kian: his comfort food is also ice-cream. He likes tight clothes with bright colors. His favorite hot drink is tea, which he has also gotten Silver to finally like. He likes summer, when he can be out in the sun and get tanned. During his childhood he hated holidays, but after getting off age and meeting his dad and Silver, he likes every holiday where he can spend time with his family.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 25

25.) Describe your character’s hands. Are they small, long, calloused, smooth, stubby?

Damian: he has long, smooth and steady hands, perfect for drawing and wielding scalpels.

Josh: his hands is smooth, his fingers neither small nor long but in-between. His forearms is another story.

Silver: as Damian, he has long, smooth and steady hands which are perfect for drawing and tattooing.

Kian: his hands are small, well-proportioned to the rest of him.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 24

24.) What might your character’s ideal romantic partner be?

Damian: Damian is not a very romantic person. Josh is IT for him; he doesn't see anyone else in a romantic or intimate way. Everything Josh is is enough for Damian.

Josh: someone who doesn't want him just for sex. He found this in Damian.

Silver: someone who loves him for who he is and who is loyal and sweet and wants to commit.

Kian: someone who is loyal and kind. He does not want a string of abusive boyfriends coming and going as his mother had during his childhood.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 23

23.) Is your character superstitious?

Damian: not at all. He only believes in what he can see.

Josh: he likes to think there's more to life, but he wouldn't exactly call himself superstitious.

Silver: no, he's not. His parents are Christians, but Silver is a sworn atheist and he believes in science.

Kian: just as Josh, Kian likes to think there's more to life, but as to being superstitious ... He belives somewhat in karma, but that's all.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 22

22.) If your character could time travel, where would they go?

Damian: he'd like to go forward in time, to see how much medicine advance in years, and figure out a way to help Josh be rid of all of his scars.

Josh: he'd go back in time and try to chance how his childhood turned out, try to either stop his mother marrying Andrew or stop the abuse in other ways. He hates how Andrew fucked him up. He would like to have had a normal childhood.

Silver: he'd also like to go back in time, to stop himself from getting into the car that fateful night of the accident.

Kian: if he could time travel, Kian wouldn't want to. He's happy in the here and now, and if he went back and something was changed, then maybe his current life wouldn't be so wonderful.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 21

21. What was your characters parents' marriage like? Were they married? Did they remain married?

Damian: his parents were married, yes, but they were not happy. His mother emotionally, and sometimes physically abused the whole family. In the end she killed them all, also herself; except Damian survived.

Josh: his parents were never married. Josh doesn't know his real dad, who was a douchebag, and he doesn't want to. His stepfather, whom his mother was married to for twelve years, abused him sexually during his childhood. His mother instantly divorced him when it all was revealed.

Silver: his parents are married and have stayed married since they were young. They're old, in their sixtees, and very old-fashioned. Silver was not planned and was quite the surprise to them. They seem happy, but they couldn't deal with Silver after the accident, so they sent him off to live with his older brother in London.

Kian: his parents were never married. He grew up with his mother, a drug-addict and alcoholic, until he left at the age of eighteen. His dad came back into his life then, after having been refused to see him for all those years by his vindictive mother. His dad is happily married to his half-Korean wife, and they have a son together who is turning out to be quite alike Kian.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 20

20.) Does your character have any irrational fears? 

Damian:  He's not really fond of kitchen knives, after his mother tried to kill him with one when he was a child so it's not exactly irrational. He doesn't like crowds though, for reason's unexplainable.

Josh: It's not an irrational, but Josh fears his stepfather for good reasons. He dreads the day when he gets out of jail, because he's afraid Andrew will come after him. 

Silver: cars. He's done with the panic attacks whenever he gets close to a car, but he prefers to never be near one. Also busses, because they drive in traffic surrounded by cars. 

Kian: bugs. It's not really an irrational fear, seeing as he grow up in a dirty house infested with bugs. He's very clean because of this.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 19

19.) What’s your character’s preferred means of travel? 

Damian: He prefers to walk. When it's very far, he takes the underground or the bus. He hates driving in London.

Josh: Josh likes to drive, but it's a pain in London, so he either walks or takes the underground.

Silver: Silver always walks or takes the underground. He cannot stand cars after the accident, neither being a driver or a passanger. He also doesn't care much for busses, for the very same reason.

Kian: Underground works out well for him mostly. If he's going outside London, he takes the train or drives.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 18

18.) Is your character a good cook? What’s their favorite recipe, whether they’re good or not? (Microwave mac-and-cheese applies.)

Damian: Yes, he's a good cook. He worked part-time in a diner during school, and the chores included helping making the food, especially in the evenings. He doesn't really have a favorite recipe, but he likes chicken.

Josh: No, Josh's it not a good cook. The only thing he can really do is instant noodles, and if he adds some chopped meat, it's good enough for him.

Silver: He can cook, he just doesn't like it much. When he lived with his parents his mother made dinner every day, but after he moved in with his brother, and later Damian, dinners were a bit more infrequent. Microwave mac-and-cheese works for him on a busy day, but he always enjoyes whatever Kian cooks up.

Kian:  He likes to cook. Growing up, dinner wasn't exactly something his mother worried about, so Kian usually had to make himself something to eat. Now that he actually has his own income, he quite likes to spoil Silver with good dishes.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 17

17.) What’s your character’s desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy?

Damian: He is very neat. He likes things to be set in a certain place, and he always outs it back after using it. Josh's mess sometimes drives him mad.

Josh: He is messy. When he's writing, he's got papers and books strewn everywhere around him, and he's not very good at putting it all away when he's done, to Damian's annoyance.

Silver: His workspace is kind of in-between. At home he will have sketchbooks and pencil scarttered around a little, but as he works as a tattoo artist, he has to have evrything neatly lined up when at work.

Kian:  He is also very neat. This is due to him growing up with an alcoholic and drug-addict mother, who wasn't exactly much up for house-chores. Kian doesn't like mess or dirt, so he's probably even neater than Damian.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 16

16.) Are there any blood relatives that your character is particularly close with, besides the immediate ones? Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, Aunts, et cetera. Are there any others that your character practically considers a blood relative? 

Damian: Damian was raised by his uncle and aunt, so those are the blood relatives he's closest too. He's also grown up with his younger niece and nephew. Besides them, he doesn't have any other blood relatives. He is a part of Josh's family now, and he feels close enough to them, even though he sometimes feel like he doesn't fit in with them either.

Josh: His mother and grandmother, but also his aunt and all of his cousins. He is pretty close to his half-brother. There isn't really anyone else he considers a blood relative.

Silver: Silver is not close with his parents. He is, however, very close with his brother, who took him in after he went off the deep end after the car accident. He feels very close to and included in Kian's family.

Kian:  Kian grew up with his mother, but he doesn't feel close to her at all. When he moved out, he put her behind him. When his father came back in his life though, he finally got a chance at a real family, and he feel closer to his dad, his step-mom and brother than he ever has with his mother and her countless string of live-in boyfriends.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 15

15.) Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl?

Damian: He is an early morning bird. Being a doctor he's used to getting up early, or whenever it's needed. If he has little sleep, he catches a nap during the day.

Josh: He is a night owl. He likes to sit up at night and write, especially if Damian's working.

Silver: He's usually an early morning bird, but he likes to both sleep inand stay up at night if he has a reason to.

Kian: He's not either. He doesn't like to stay up too late, but he likes to sleep in the morning.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 14

14.) How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?

Damian: He doesn't like either much. He likes a temperate temperatures to be in-between, comfortable enough to be able to wear a thin shirt or a t-shirt. He gets grumpy if the temperature changes drastically.

Josh: He doesn't care for extreme cold, but he does like winter. He thinks snow is beutiful. He gets grumpy if it's too warm. 

Silver: He doesn't like extreme cold much, mostly because of the accident which happened on a cold winter day. Being extremely cold always reminds him of the time he had to spend outside, trying to save his friends. He likes heat--summer is his favorite season.

Kian: He firmly believes that it's not about bad weather, but about what kind of clothes you wear to handle it. Still, he prefer summer to the other seasons. He likes to be out in the sun and get tanned.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 13

13.) What does your character’s bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?

Damian: He's a quiet, calm sleeper, so his bed will be neat. Exactly the way it was when he went to bed. He usually wakes up on the side he fell asleep on.

Josh: He is a quiet sleeper if he's not plagued by nightmares. If he has nightmares during the night, he toss around and can be sprawled all over the bed. When that happens the covers are usually tossed off to the floor.

Silver: He usually tend to kick the covers down during the night, because he's always so hot. He tend to wake up with them tangled around his legs. He likes to sleep on his stomach.

Kian: He likes to move around at night. He moves from his sides, to his back, to his stomach. He likes bodily contact and usually finds himself plastered against Silver when he wakes up.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 12

12.) How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email? 

Damian: He grew up in modern times, so he knows his way with technology. He doesn't use it much though, except for studying. He doesn't really write either letters nor e-mail. He prefers to draw by hand though, in his sketchbook.

Josh: He is good with computers, simply because he likes to be on the computer. Both to surf the internet and to write. He prefers e-mail.

Silver: He's a lot like Damian, he knows his way with technology but he doesn't use it much except for his phone. He prefers to send e-mail, but when drawing he likes to do it by hand in his sketchbook.

Kian: He knows what he needs to know, but he doesn't have much of an interest in technology besides that. He's always using his phone and he likes to surf the internet, but that's about it.

30 Days of Character Development: Day 11

11.) Is there an animal you equate with your character?

Damian: Damian's animal is hard to pin down, because he is such a complex character. The closest would be horse; he's steady, plucky and observant. He can be quite stubborn.

Josh: a dog. He's cheerful, devoted, easy-going (most of the time), protective, faithful, but also a little impatient.

Silver: a wolf. He's good-looking, athletic, decisive, passionate and can be aggressive.

Kian: an eagle. He's attractive and self-confident, but can be impatient.
